Uber came into Nigeria in 2014, at that time crime rate in Nigeria was very high and statistics shows that people were willing to work, however there were no jobs for most graduates and the less privileged. Gang violence, theft, rituals killings etc were very rampant, but Uber's launch helped the Nigerian economy with more jobs, which in turn helped curb down crime and armed robberies in Nigeria.

10 Years of operating Nigeria has seen Uber have over 7000 drivers and 260,000 riders who actively use the app in Nigeria and currently generates close to N260m Naira monthly and it’s still not the leading rider in Nigeria.

The likes of bolt, ride, lagride and more have boosted employment in Nigeria, however, despite all this taxi rides creating more jobs in the country, today we are back to where we were10years ago with the highest inflation in Nigerian history, which is affecting the youths and every house hold in Nigeria today, hence why the protest has been going on for the past couple of days.
