SOFTDROP:
The Application that
will Transform
Africa's Logistics Sector.

Africa is a continent of immense diversity, opportunity and challenge. With a population of over 1.3 billion people, spanning 54 countries and six regions, it is also a continent of untapped potential. One of the key drivers of economic growth and development in Africa is trade, both within the continent and with the rest of the world. However, trade in Africa faces many barriers, such as poor infrastructure, high costs, security risks and regulatory hurdles.

That’s why the African Union launched the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in 2018, to create a single market for goods and services, facilitating free movement of people and capital, and boosting intra-African trade by at least 50% by 2030. The AfCFTA is expected to generate significant benefits for African businesses and consumers, such as lower tariffs, increased competition, greater innovation and more job opportunities.

But how can these benefits be realized in practice? How can African traders and entrepreneurs overcome the logistical challenges that hamper their access to markets and customers? How can they leverage the digital revolution that is transforming the world of commerce?

This is where Softdrop comes in

Softdrop is a logistics app that enables users across to move goods from one location to another as long as that destination is their destination. For example, someone who lives in Lekki and works in Ikeja, can open the app and check whether someone wants to deliver something to Ikeja, pick it up and drop it at Ikeja on his way to work and get paid for doing it.
Soft drop is not just a convenient and cost-effective way of delivering goods. It is also a social enterprise that empowers ordinary people to become micro-entrepreneurs, earn extra income and contribute to their communities. By using Softdrop, users can reduce their carbon footprint, save time and money, and support local businesses. But Softdrop has bigger ambitions than just Nigeria.

It aims to expand its operations to other African countries and regions, tapping into the potential of the AfCFTA. By connecting users across borders, Softdrop hopes to create 100 million jobs all over Africa in 5 years. It also plans to partner with other stakeholders, such as governments, NGOs, the private sector and civil society, to promote trade facilitation, digital inclusion, environmental sustainability and social impact.

Soft drop is more than just an app. It is a vision of a more integrated, prosperous and resilient Africa.
